Deciding what to purchase for any new addition to the family can be difficult.  There are so many baby items to choose from and so many opinions (welcomed or unsolicited) about what you should have!  It can be a little overwhelming to say the least.  Today I’d like to share the big-ticket items that we purchased.  I did a ton of research on reviews etc. to land on the items we thought would be the best fit not only now but longer term for us.

Be on the lookout for future reviews on these items.  I’m looking forward to letting you know if my research paid off and if these items were worth the purchase!

1. Nuna PIPA lite rx + PIPA relx base infant car seat

Full disclosure, the PRIMARY driving force for the purchase of this Nuna infant car seat was that it weighs (without baby) only 6.9 pounds.  YES PLEASE!  Any way that I can save my hips, back, etc. I’m all for it.  Just think, the average weight of an infant car seat, prior to putting your little bundle of joy safely in there is drum roll please, 9 to 12 pounds!  Now, imagine topping that off with your 10 – 12 pound bouncing bundle of joy.  I get it, people do it all. the. time.  How much of a struggle is it really?  Many parents I know don’t even think to investigate how much an infant car seat weighs when considering which car seat to purchase.

Often times, as most things in life, the top priority is price range.  For me in particular, having chronic illness, I wanted to ensure that I was giving myself the least amount of work possible at any given time I’d have to tote my little one in the car seat.  All that to say, each and every car seat sold in the US have to meet the same federal safety standards.  So you know you are getting a safe and secure car seat no matter which route you take.

But, if you’re anything like me and your focus is to save your workout for the gym, ha! rather than the weight lifting you’ll be doing with baby + car seat, maybe take a look at the Nuna PIPA lite rx.  If you’ve already been putting this particular infant car seat to work please share with us in the comments your experience!

2. Nuna Tavo Next Stroller

Prior to this particular pregnancy, this is my 3rd – we weren’t fortunate with the first 2 to get this far, I was set on getting the Mockingbird stroller.  It looks amazingly stylish and is affordable in comparison to many popular/sought after stroller brands on the market.  I started really taking a look at reviews for the Mockingbird and felt that between the mentions of the stroller being heavy, pulling to one side or the other when strolling, not folding down well and taking up a lot of space in trunks – for an extra $100 (at the time of writing this post) the Nuna Tavo Next would be the route we’d go.

Looks so chic, of course pairs well with the PIPA, has a decent sized storage basket, HUGE canopy, 4 reclining positions, and a smooth ride so far.  We are looking forward to putting the stroller to good use in due time!  Again, if you have been putting this particular stroller to the test, please let us know your thoughts in the comments.
